Job Summary

My primary function within SEO is to drive growth in organic (free) traffic to websites. I accomplish this by finding the right keywords to connect to whatever website I'm working on (optimizing). The "right keywords" are those that are both relevant to the content of the website and commonly searched by Google and Bing users. "Connecting" the keywords to the website simply refers to how/where they are incorporated (e.g. meta content, body copy, alt text, etc).

Aaron's Career Path

SEO was definitely NOT on my radar while I was in school. It was through a marketing internship at an agency that I learned about it. After finishing my undergrad in Marketing, the agency offered me a full-time role as an SEO Coordinator, and I've been here ever since.

Work/Life Balance

Agency life can be busy, but it all balances out. I'll occasionally work late, or put in a few hours on the weekend, but at the same time, my boss occasionally encourages me to leave early and enjoy the weekend, holiday, etc. Both are pretty uncommon.

The agency I work for is also incredibly flexible with its work from home policy. There are weeks I work from home two or three times.

I've been at this agency for five years now, so I get three weeks of paid vacation per year. Three is good enough for me at this point in my career.

Travel is pretty rare. This is more common for those in business development.
